Nicole Dryburgh

I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology at McGill University and a CIHR Health Systems Impact Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Offord Centre for Child Studies, McMaster University, and Harvard University, embedded with School Mental Health Ontario. My research examines the question: How do youths’ close relationships shape their mental health, and how can we translate that knowledge into better assessment and intervention for youth?

​My research examines how friendships and peer relationships shape the mental health and adjustment of young people. I study when these relationships become harmful and how experiences such as coercion, control, and other forms of relationship harms contribute to emotional and behavioural difficulties. Within the team, I will investigate how negative friendship experiences are linked to day-to-day challenges and broader mental health outcomes among youth.
